Trekking in the Cinque Terre

Together with Porto Venere, the Cinque Terre (Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore) were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Breathtaking views of the sea and the steeply sloping coastline of this protected stretch of the Ligurian Riviera make every excursion an unforgettable experience.

Departure from the station of La Spezia, where you can buy the “Cinque Terre Card Treno” that allows unlimited travel by train on the line La Spezia – Cinque Terre – Levanto and access to the paths of the National Park of 5 Terre. We reach Vernazza, the “pearl” of the Cinque Terre. It is actually the most beautiful village, medieval, perched on a majestic cliff, with its magical and mysterious alleys enclosed among the multicolored houses. Crowded with tourists from all over the world, it is classified among the first one hundred most beautiful villages in Italy, and it boasts a long and ancient seafaring tradition. You can reach the small harbor enclosed between the houses of soft pastel colors, full of restaurants that offer freshly caught fish, and stores that sell the traditional Genoese focaccia to be enjoyed on the street.

From Vernazza you can reach Corniglia, the only village that cannot be reached by sea, through the “Sentiero Azzurro”, the most famous and panoramic path of the Cinque Terre, of slight difficulty (2 hours all sea view!).
For some steep and slippery stretches it is advisable to use trekking boots.
Then from Corniglia to Manarola and Riomaggiore by train with a visit to the villages. Always by train we reach Monterosso, the largest village with a beautiful promenade and fine sandy beaches. From Monterosso the train takes about 30 minutes to reach the station of La Spezia.
